The inevitable blog hiatus hits hard as the Louisiana heat rises. Organized activities for the team slow down and packed social schedules take away bloggers and readers alike. While I have not written since spring camp, it is in fact the best time of year. We have so much to look forward to.
We are officially 65 days away. A short 9 weeks and change from kick off. Hope springs eternal for all teams at this time of year. Yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery.

Sometimes it’s hard to see progress off the field and appreciate the slow rise from a fledgling program to a national brand. One of the best measures of the growth of a program is high school recruiting. The transfer portal has a myriad of factors that can lead a player to leave, but the high school ranks still frequently come down to helmet scouting. Regardless of Tulane’s status as one of the 5 winningest teams over the last two years, recruiting still lags behind most middling power 5s.
It’s the name brand recognition that is so hard to attain, but this summer we are starting to see something. This past weekend, 7 rising seniors visited Tulane. All ranked as high 3 or low 4 ⭐️ by the various services took official visits.
4 committed after visiting
Jotavion Pierce 3⭐️ Safety Montgomery, AL
Ju Baptiste 3⭐️ Left Tackle New Orleans, La
Warren Roberts 3⭐️ EDGE New Orleans, La
Josh Brantley 3 ⭐️ ATH Ruston, LA
2 de committed from the schools they had pledged to just days after leaving New Orleans.
Corey Amos 4⭐️ EDGE Opelousas, LA
PaLanding Drammeh 3⭐️ DT Hoover,AL
The final member of the group moved up his timing signifying a decision had been made.
Tae’Shaun Gelsey 4⭐️ TE Jacksonville, FL
Yet another who previously visited flipped from Liberty this weekend.
Nikolas Alston 3⭐️ DL Birmingham, AL
That would be 5 commits in one weekend ranked 86 or higher by 247 with the two highest ranked members still possibly to come.

For reference only 7 members in the entire 2023 class eclipsed 86 by 247s ratings. The star ratings are not so much what excites me though. It’s the active recruiting from this recent group of their fellow official visitors.
There’s something different about the group that visited this past weekend. They seem unified in an age of meaningless commitments and constant flips. This feels like the start of something. Will this end up being the best recruiting class in school history? Perhaps, if it is remember these names that started it. A group of teenagers coming together to chase big waves and change Tulane’s football culture going forward.
This is the momentum generation.
