Welcome to Uptown, Ty Thompson

It’s hard to believe this is real. Don’t pinch me, I want to keep dreaming. Ty Thompson a former 5 star high school recruit, who has patiently waited his turn for a starting job, he finally has one at Tulane. You might say 5 stars was years ago, what has he done lately. Well let’s take a look at his contemporaries from the 2021 high school class who have had a chance to play.

Holy fucking shit is right. You may have heard of a few of his fellow QBs from that class who have gotten a chance to start. Dart, maye and McCarthy were three of the biggest names in college football in 2023. Okay so he’s got a pedigree, what can he do on the field.

Thompson is 42/66 with 6 TD & 4 INT in 17 career appearances, however this year he was 24/31 (77.4%) with 4 TD & 1 INT over 7 games. Most consistent action was in the spring game with highlights below

Some nice downfield throws and a few tight windows there. Small sample size, this year but he registered a 82.7 PFF grade.

As noted by many he was great against the blitz. 90.9% adjusted completion percentage, 13.5 YPA, & an impressive 2.17 seconds to release.

YouTube longs are acquired taste but I really enjoyed this one. Take a minute and watch this one. Good insight to who this kid is, and more importantly who he can be as QB1 of the wave.

The clout and respect that this kid is going to bring to the program will only pale in comparison to the talented skill players that will follow him. This is the first big sign that the wave will take a step forward in 2024.

So you tell me:

Can’t wait to watch Ty light it up at Yulman and buy tickets to the first ever 12 team playoffs. That is now possible. Nobody could say it better than Mark Twain. We. Are. So. Back.
