I’ll be the first to say that I was nervous coming into tonight, but the opening drive turnover from the defense leading to a quick 6 from Pratt put me at ease immediately. Wave are undefeated in 2023. Let’s get into the recap
First Quarter:
Best student section ever at Yulman? Place was packed before the game started and all night long. A welcome sight for a guy who saw more people go to TJ Quills than football games during his tenure, and trust me no one went to TJ Quills.

Patrick Jenkins is your new face of the Green Wave defense. I had high expectations for him, and he gets the first impact play of the season. We all collectively screamed BALL
Michael Pratt is the best quarterback in the G5 and a legitimate heisman Candidate.
Chris Brazzell II is a welcome addition as a red zone threat. 6’5 is size I’m not used to in the green and white. An awesome route above. If you had CBII first tuddy of the season, muffuletta on me.
After a ton of questions about who would grab hold of the RB1 gig, an ineffective showing from all with shedro leading the way. The run game will need to be a lot better against Ole Miss.
Can’t possibly pick on Jha’Quan, but I wish he reeled that one in to end the first. For those keeping score at home that was Pratt’s first and only incompletion of the evening.
Second Quarter
Nice drive from South Alabama to get their first touchdown of the season. When their first field goal went wide, I had hopes of a shut out. That was never going to be the case, but a kid can dream right? Carter Bradley is a good player but he’s very much Mobile Mardi Gras to Pratt’s bigger better New Orleans version.

Speaking of bigger and better. Cute turnover beads. If you want to pretend you’re the original, try not to copycat big brother with cheap knock offs.
With so many offensive weapons leaving last year, it was good to see a familiar face get involved on the second touchdown of the season. #7to4for47. Get used to seeing Jha’Quan in the end zone. Big Play Pratt is back.
You know what’s better than one 47 yard touchdown? Two. Pratt loves that number 7. Lawrence Keys with an absolutely awesome touchdown here. This one had a reminiscent feeling of a last year. What a throw and catch for the third Tuddy of the night.
Shout out DJ Douglas. Put on the real turnover beads.
If anyone can tell me how long the Jags led this game for, I’ll buy you a beer. Correct answer 0 minutes 0 seconds. You certainly would not know it based on the ESPN broadcast who heaped praise on a team that never got into this game. No one likes commentator bias especially when it’s unwarranted, ESPN. Be better.
Valentino, keep doing what you’re doing. Next time you’re in New York, sfogliatella on me.

I will not post video of the strip sack. I’m not even sure why I’m talking about it. Mahki Hughes had some good reps in pass pro. This was NOT one of them. 7 you’re a warrior but for the love of god stay healthy, you’ve got a heisman to win.
You heard Pratt. He feels great. Period. End of discussion.
Third Quarter
Ball security is job security, and I’m sorry to say that Iverson Celestine has neither. Weird night for the green wave backfield, the job was begging to be won and no one wanted it.
If you told me before the game Shaadie would have fewer rushing yards than keys, I’d probably dismiss you immediately as a casual.
South Alabama scored off that fumble, and it was the only time the game felt close. Limit the turnovers, limit the anxiety.
Play of the game. As soon as I saw wildcat, I said this is gonna be a tuddy. Click that video ten more times. #7to4for47
That’s our last touchdown of the night. I’m like Scott Hansen, touchdowns first, words later.
4th Quarter
Who cares. If Pratt was hurt, would willie put him in? No, Pratt’s fine., the limp was just a troll on the jags and their fans.
Two more from Valentino, that’s Amore.
37-17 Green Wave win (and cover). Bring on Joey Freshwater
